The store I work at carries clawed frogs and I see several kinds of newts on the wholesale sheets, he( the boss) just doesnt carry them in the store but, he does stock dwarf and clawed frogs. We also stock many kinds of ornamental shrimps, crabs and crayfish. Maybe your fish store could order you some if you're looking for some.

I've noticed that over the last few years until the last couple of months. All of a sudden, I'm seeing the ACF's again, and not just the ADF's which had always been around.
I'm glad they're back. I haven't seen as many California Newts though or Eastern Spotted Newts for that matter.

Something else I found rather odd was last summer a local PetSmart had a tank full of regular garden variety native American Toads for sale.

Odd not only because spring/summer/fall evenings around here you can probably come across 50 or more without even trying, but also because I always thought it wasn't legal to sell native wildlife - but of course I could be wrong.

I did find it hard to believe that anyone would be idiotic enough to spend $5.00 for something that they probably already have living behind their garage.

The true african clawed frog is illegal to sell or trade in California, which is probably cutting down on its sales elsewhere. As for the others-my petsmart always has a large supply of both.

I think the increase of local toads, frogs and tadpoles are for the increased number of ponders out there!!

I'm kinda one that if my pond attracts other waterlife (other than what I put in there) so be it. If a toad shows up - fine. Otherwise I'm not gonna go out and buy them to put them in!

We go catching Tadpoles...I take the kids with our nets and bucket and make an afternoon of it. It's really fun.
