Everything I've read suggests waiting until you see roots on the plantlets and then gently twisting them off of the stalk, since the stalk can produce more plantlets at a later date. Amazons develop quite a root system though. Do you have the space for more? lol You can always grow some of them up a little and then swap with other aquarists for other plants you might like! Aquaria Central and The Planted Tank are two good site you can try, although I think you have to have a certain # of posts before you can utilize the swap and shop forum on Aquaria Central. Do you know which type of sword plant?? Generally though as soon as they produce roots you can snip them off and replant. I grow several type in an aquarium, a pond and in a paludarium. They get downright weedy in the pond .lol
They also flower and will produce seeds gary
