Particles in Bio Cube water all of a sudden

I have a relatively new 14 gallon Bio Cube, and everything was fine till a couple of days ago when I noticed that the water is full of minute white particles which are EVERYWHERE. They are so tiny they are only noticeable when you practically have your nose on the glass, but the filter system is definitely pushing them back into the water, assuming they went through the intakes to begin with. I have replaced the filter cartridge, and rinsed the sponge. The water is basically clear, not cloudy, but these very fine particles are circulating throughout. Have I missed something here?
