Hi i usually cycle a new tank with feeder guppies until the tank is established you dont want to lose your more valuable fish to a new uncycled tank...plants depend on lighting and temperature of course..if your new to plants too good beginner plants are java ferns they can handle wide ranges of conditions from low lighting to higher and same with temperature..They will also reward you with new baby plants from the leaves.java moss is also an easy plant Good Luck!
