A good plant to use is a spade leaf philodendron. They like having their roots in water and won't harm the fish. Manu=y of my fish friends have these growing along the tops of their tanks for this purpose.

Java Fern and Java Moss are also two good plants to have. They're free-floating, and bettas are crazy for Java Moss.
