It's usual for males to act aggressively towards females, and unless she's getting really beat up, it's just normal mating behavior. Has he built a nest? If he has, I'd go ahead and try putting them together. (Assuming, of course, that your tank is large enough.) If it doesn't go well the first time, pull her out and try again the next day or later.

I don't know whether or not she can handle the eggs alone, but to prevent her from producing them in the future, make sure they can't see each other. Paint the divider or something.

Males are agressive to females. The extent of it though depends on whether the male has accepted the female as a partner. Males bully all females as a part of their breeding & is normal. They do eventually settle to breed. If they don't & the male is too agressive, the female looks worn & tatered, they should be kept seperate & the male may need to find another female that he prefers.

If you plan on breeding, please learn all about it and get a home made baby brine shrimp hatchery going beforehand. Bettas are not easy fish to mate, and the young are pretty hard to care for too. Don't breed if they are veiltails or are not of exceptional quality. Remember you need to find good homes for all of those babies, and giving them to petstores is not an answer. You need a large grow out tank, and then lots and lots of containers when they become aggressive. You will need to do waterchanges on all those containers frequently too.
