Will your pond freeze over entirely?

Unless I add a heater, yes. The heater is a possibility, but I really don't know much about them...yet. If I do not use a heater, I will probably drain the pond in the fall, bring in my plants and fish, and fill it back up in the spring, once the snow melts and there's no chance of frost.

Once water temps are under 50 degrees dont feed the koi.. If you do bring it in, make sure the container has water flow and is airated.. If you can keep your pond from freezing over and its 2 1/2 to 3 feet deep and has a steady flow of water and airation its probably preferred to keep him in the pond with a heater.. also remember koi can get to over 2 feet in size which will make it harder to keep bringing him in year to year..

Why drain the pond wouldnt that create problem I would just clean it good and let it freeze the just as its thawing start everything up again im sure that not all the bacteria would ide and youd have a conditioned pond No?
