Amphibians can be very tricky and difficult to keep, also, they do not belong to fish tanks, even though they are amphibians they have to be in a tank on their own with very little water, just enough to keep them moist, the only amphibians that can be kept in a fish tank with fish are african clawed frogs and water dogs. Newts feed on live food, earthworms, mealworms, waxworms are excellent choices to feed newts and frogs.

they also eat brine shrimp frozen or live blood worms and they also sell pellet food for newts and salamanders
I have about 5 newts in my tank and I never see them eat I had them over a year they are also bottom feeders You should have a land area in your tank or floating cork bark for them because they also like to bask

I feed my salamander and mudskipper pieces of scallops. Its cheap and easy to feed. The problem is newts and salamanders are slow and have bad eyesite. They can't compete with fish for food so they have to be hand fed. My SW mono and clowns love the scallops also. Get a quarter or half pound, freeze most and keep some in refridge. It can stay 3-4 days before it goes bad.
