i just tried to give my betta a pea,for the first time he tried to eat it, but spit it out why? help please.i cut it up small,he dose the same thing with his pellets.

He probably doesn't like peas. They are mainly meat eaters (bugs and such really), may take a nip or two of something green but not a diet for bettas. I had some pellets that were too big/or he just didn't like and wouldn't eat them. The Hiroki (not sure about spelling) are really small and seem to work best and are made for bettas. I had one that would only eat the freeze dried tubiflex worms (in the betta food section of store), wouldn't eat pellets of any kind. I have heard they can be picky eaters sometimes.
