Power Head has me stumped

I just picked up a used aquarium with an undergravel filter and a power head. I've used UGFs before, with regular air filters to run them, but I've never used a power head before and I'm not sure how to connect it to the uplift tube. I've looked around but I'm not finding any pictures of a tank set up with a power head. Does the intake sit on top of the uplift tube? that's all I can figure.

On a related note, what is the absolutely quietest mode of filtration there is for a tank? I have a very quiet house - no central HVAC of any kind, no TV, stereo only rarely - often the hanging box filter is the noisiest thing in the house, especially when the water level drops a bit and a little waterfall gets going. Good motivator to get me topping off the tank regularly.

I have both the UGF and the hanging box filter going. There will be 2 fancy goldfish in the tank; I think they'll like the space. They've been living in a 10gal tank so this will be nice and roomy in comparison.
