bacteria BLOOM

Ok, first, thanks to all on informing me of my over population. After reading the posts I went and purchased another filter to assist my Emperor 280, next day BAM, white as white could be, I am assuming this is a bacteria bloom, so I removed the extra filter. After a week now I can see through the long side of my tank again. My question is, at the top of the water there's almost an oil slick like presence. On the light hood, moisture is white creamy. Is this all reminants of this bloom? All fish (over populated) are still healthy and thriving. I have been performing water changes (30%)daily for the first 3 days and now have scaled back to 1 - 2 per week as the water continues to clear.
