| i recently inherited about 6 rather large goldfish. and i'm not stranger to having fish but for the life of me i can't figure out why the water is changing color - orange. its almost like the color is leaching out of the fish into the water. someone please help me! |

| It sounds like something in the tank is dissolving into the water. The first suspects are the gravel or something like a piece of wood which leaches tanins in the water. Wood like the roots sold at pet stores or PetSmart are a dark brown and will leach into the water. After a time, normally two months or so the wood will stop leaching into the water. Just do regular water changes and the fish will be fine. Lance |
