I never grew any other lily's other then Nymphea (only for the foliage)in my aquarium. Reason being they are light hogs and you really can't veiw then unless you are above them. You could try to keep the water level lower then the top of the tank, but the glass usually gets "smudgy" and distorts the veiw. Unless you are doing more of an indoor pond, rather then a standard aquarium with a stand it may not be worth it. Anyway, I just looked them up and they require 18"-24" of water over the pot. They are planted in a pot, probably just in quality substrate (gravel) will do. Other then that a bit of aquatic fertilizer and other nutrients and good ammount of light. The lily pads will block light from the bottom of the tank when these plants mature, thats why I called them light hogs. Sometimes then cause there own death.
