Some frozen food may not use it. Try to raise your own live food, brine shrimp is one of the easiest. For a varied diet use par-boiled cukes and zukes, romaine lettuce. Do a search for "home made tropical fish food recipes" must be a good 100 of them posted.

i am familiar with brine shrimp...and the awful smell. was i doing something wrong with the hatchery? too many? i agree on the ease and all around use for conditioning fish and fry.

funny, i never thought of making my own! should i include fish vitamin suppplements if i do this? there is alot of new info since 10 years ago. oh, no cook here, what is par boiled? sorry, i will look it up when i look up the recipes.

Try getting back into it after 20 years. I did more chemistry and scientific research in the past 3 years then Bill Nye. I enjoy it though. Par-Boil was not the term I meant. Blanche (sp?) is the term. Just drop the raw vegtables in boiling water till they get a little soft. Vitamins is up to you, may have that preservative in it. Try the frozen fish food labels first. You can use a combo of the meats and algae along with the vegtables.
