Hi, are you feeding a variety of foods? Fish stay healthier if you give them a variety. if the food is to big then crush it like you say, of just change to another food. If the female is a new fish, she may not be used to eating these betta bites.

They like the frozen brine shrimp, but those are so light they get caught up in the current. I like the betta bites b/c they float. They'll eat them crushed, but I think they catch maybe 15% that way. Not crazy about the freeze dried blood worms.

Feeding the frozen brine shrimp in a tea ball works okay, I'm hoping they'll figure out how to pull the shrimp out. The platys already have.
