Sounds like a fungal infection. Try Maroxy. Chances are there may be an underlying bacterial infection as well so you might want to treat with antibiotics too.

My African cichlids got a fungal infection similar to that a couple of years ago. I lost 30 out of 40 fish I battled it for a mouth or so before I finely got rid of it. I had tried almost every type of medicine on the market and they just kept dieing. Finally I moved my last 10 fish out of my 120 gallon tank in to a 20 gallon and treated them with Melafix and pimafix. I treated the 120 gallon tank with a high salt mixture then drained and replaced the water to kill anything that could be in the tank. Then as my fish started to get better I added them back to the tank one at a time. I have never had a relapse. I think you should not do this unless you are desperate which I was. It could do more harm then good but I had nothing to lose and had tried everything it was the only thing that worked

ok ok , i've treated marycyn and marycyn 2, melafix, salt ect. but it is gradually going away since i dropped some jugle fungus fizzing tablets :.) BUT my poor oranda's fins are rotted away. ALL of them. he just has a stub for a back fin. no more side fins at all, hardly a top fin. now he seems to be darting threw the water in pain & floating to the top almost like a swim bladder type float!

I know it's not convenient often but it's a good idea to have another tank to treat sick fish. We do that with our saltwater fish and it allows us to intensely treat a fish with issues. It's also a great way to make sure new fish don't spread disease to others in your main tank(s). With saltwater fish this is almost a requirement. Freshwater fish I suppose are more resilient but it's still a good idea.

I fully concur. We used to have a hospital salt tank set up, with a sponge filter. This way we could medicate with bacteria killing meds, and not mess up the main tanks.

I did a search before posting an already asked question.

I have a black moor I bought at Petco. He has one fuzzy spot on the edge of the tail. First I treated with salt, that didn't work. Then I treated for ick, it hasn't gone away. I think it maybe what your fish had?

My question is, is it okay to try jungle fungus fizzing tablets? Did it rot your goldfishes tail?
