Dry caladium bulbs

I bought a few bulbs/tubers of a caladium mix last summer, and they have been since overwintering in my basement.
Today, i dug through the saw dust only to find all of them were pretty dry. I tried squeezing one, and it was really hard.
So I decided to soak them in water and plant them up again.
Do you think they will still sprout?
When they were in the water soaking, they sunk to the bottom |

| Those "bulbs" are the highly condensed stem of the Caladium which go dormant during winter. Contrary to popular belief a stem is not the support for a single leaf as many growers belief. You can cut one in half and if it still appears whitish and healthy inside with no strong odor it may well produce new plants in the spring. |
