amorphophallus konjac newbie

hello
i am new to this site and forums but hear is my question. I have bought and i now have my first amorphophallus! It is a A. konjac, the tuber is 6 inches in diameter and is about 3 pounds. i also got a bit of treat with the in the form that the bulb i has a ordered 8 inch flower spike on it. here is my question though i am wondering if i can plant tuber now even though the tuber has a spike on it?Also if you could give me any other tips that would be helpful that would be very mutch apericated.

Yes, go ahead and pot it but not outside. These plants can tolerate freezing but should not be planted once it is already cold.

Put it in a very loose fast draining soil with some sand and other amendments to keep it from staying soggy. Water it sparingly during the time it is indoors keeping it only slightly moist since it has already produced a petiole. They love bright light so do the best you can.

In the spring you can move it to an outdoor bright bed if you like. I started with a single tuber 5 years ago and now have at least 30.

By the way, the tuber is a highly condensed underground stem which supports a single petiole. That petiole supports a divided leaf. Even though it will look like more than one leaf, there is only one.
