What about cutting down my borneo giant?

I have a nice borneo giant alocasia that was new last year. It got to be a monster and has developed a trunk. Because of the cool weather, it has gotten yellow and brown on the edges, and the new leaf is much smaller and deformed. I know if I leave it, the plant will eventually put out normal monster leaves and the trunk will continue to get taller.

I am wondering what would happen if I completely cut the trunk off to maybe 6 inches off the ground? It seems to have several 'eyes' close to the bottom of the trunk.

Would the plant come back as pretty as the first time? Would it be a cluster of plants? Would it attain the same size as it did this year? Has anyone tried this? What is the best thing to do to have the most attractive plant? Thanks.

Anna
