? about growing EE's in water and fish manure

I have a friend who owns a Koi farm, and grows many plants in a slurry of fish manure and water in his greenhouse. The plants grow to enormous size in this fish manure slurry. I've given him a variety of elephant ears in the past and some do well in the water, and others don't . Can anyone with experience growing these plants in water let me know which ones will grow well in water and which ones won't? I don't have enough pups of all of them right now to experiment. Thanks much!
