Philodendron - need help please

We had a severe winter in North Florida. My Philodendrons have defoliated before and always regrew leaves from each trunk. However as of today I have some Philodendron trunks that have NOT regrown any leaves and I'm wondering if they should be removed??? (to have a clean look)

The trunks range from 2" - 2ft. Pups/shoots have come up from the ground around the trunks that have not produced new leaves yet. Some of the trunks look like total stumps (no stem on top)...... however, I scraped away at a few of the trunks and there was green underneath!!! Also some of the arial roots connecting to the seemingly lifeless trunks looked dead and I started to remove them but then got to some that looked healthy (hard white inside). I had a couple that seemed a bit mushy but most trunks are hard.

Should I still wait to see if these Philodendrons can regrow new leaves? Will they? Or should the trunks be removed (and please advise on removal because the trunks/pups are compact)? Thank you.
