"Mini" as in small hybrids, or as in just small bulbs of normal hybrids? Small Offsets from normal corms sometimes produce tiny blooms the first year, and grow up the next year.

For August Flowers, I planted late June last year. However, the bulbs at that point were pretty sick of dormancy and performad badly. Some rotted. I'm glad you are prepared to buy stems via florist. It is very commendable to try your own.

Actually, I am not positive if they are mini hybrids, or the bulbs. I was looking for a mini bloom, not the full star like bloom. The bulbs ARE small.
BUT I didnt actually ask the lady when I bought it, she just said they were mini callas.
Just to share...here is my first calla bloom, and my blush that I planted on the 13th!!!!
