Help establishing bare-rooted Alocasia calidora

A few weeks ago I bought a small bare-rooted rhizome of Alocasia ÃÂcalidora online and planted it indoors. When it arrived, there were several petioles still attached, which I removed after they began to rot. The young leaf in the center has stopped developing and is now beginning to turn yellow/brown (see picture).
Any ideas on what I should do? I'd really appreciate any insights or suggestions. Thanks!
