That looks great, congratulations. Personally I think they should always be in soil any time there's any growth going on, flowering included. It weakens the plant to be putting energy into growth but not being able to take in any water or nutrients.

If it doesn't have any roots while it's blooming, then it doesn't matter whether there are available nutrients or not, because it won't be able to absorb them.

indeed, I planted it a week ago and it now has roots, and isn't growing yet, but it will do.

The thing is that without soil (or moisture) the tuber is unlikely to produce roots even though temperatures had risen enough to initiate flowering. It's not a natural situation for the plant which is geared to send out roots to draw in nutrients as soon as it detects moisture and warmth.

I've grown venosum for 10 yrs now, I personally haven't seen root growth from these guys until after they flower, I'm sure it's possible but that just seem to be their rythem...

In theory I think you exactly right breeze, but I just dunno if it really applies to these...

it was a whime to grow them as they are weird. I planted it and keep mounding it like a potato and it's growing g with ALOT of roots when I'm home I'll uoad image

the second I have, I planted in soil abd not watered it at all! and it's flower is just starting to come out the 'sheath'
