I don't have opertus, kiusianus or hirsutus, but mine do strange things from time to time.

Prainii is a winter grower. Took me a while to work this out. It would die off in early summer giving it a short growing season from when I'd plant it out. A friend had one growing right through winter, she thought it was normal. So I gave it a try and mine went through to early summer again, this time greatly increasing tuber size.

Paeoniifolius is normlly a summer grower, but whilst most of mine were going dormant this year, some only just started sprouting. The late sprouters are still going strong, as though it's still early summer. The others are limp shrivelled stems. So mine seem to have a mind of their own, and they're not even coordinated amongst themselves. I've never kept tabs on them to see if it's the same ones that are out of synch, there's just too many.
