Looking like Alocasia Tigrina Superba. Not all of them have the heavily striped petioles. This plant is a bit fussy in that it likes it a bit dry as opposed to many alocasias. It is reported to like to be underpotted a bit. As for hardiness, got me, I live in the Fl. Keys. Scott

While the plant bears some resemblance to the tigrina superba, if it has reddish undersides to the leaves, it is not tigrina. It is Alocasia princeps 'Purple Cloak'. This plant does not like to be kept too wet, and does not like temperatures below 60 degrees F. It grows best in moderate shade. LariAnn

Here's a link to an article I wrote about Alocasia princeps 'Purple Cloak'. The plant is a dead-ringer for the one in the picture at the start of this thread. LariAnn

LariAnn, thanks for catching my error, dang, I'm so ashamed ;). I see I have a tag to change on my own plant. If anyone is having trouble with LariAnn's link as I am just google Alocasia princeps 'Purple Cloak'. You will be directed to her article on the first hit. Scott

Scott, thanks for the heads-up about my link. Unfortunately, the actual link is not allowed here due to the site it is located on. You are right - even if you just google Alocasia princeps, my article is the first link provided. LariAnn
