Alocasia cuprea and A. x amazonica 'Polly'

Hello all!
I recently purchased A. cuprea, and just repotted it today.
I know that Alocasias like moist conditions. I have two questions, though:
1. this baby was originally planted in sphagnum (long fiber sphagnum, not peat). Would it prefer to stay in sphagnum rather than potting soil?
2. Would it like to live as a bog plant, or is drainage important? For this question, I'd like to know the answer as pertains to both cuprea and also to A. x amazonica 'Polly', which I also purchased recently.
Thanks for any input!
