Several months ago I picked up some "taro" tubers from 2 different grocery stores. They looked pretty much identical to me--same size, shape, color, etc.--although when they started sprouting, one had reddish growing tips and the other was bright green. The green ones have since put out leaves that are typical for Colocasia esculenta, which is what I assumed both sets of tubers were. However, the red ones are producing bluish-green leaves that look more like Xanthosoma. Does anybody know whether these are also sold as "taro"?
