I recently saw a plant in a friend's garden and asked its' name. All he knew was this 'common' name, and when I Google it I don't really get any plant-related hits. Anyone familiar with this?

There are a few Alocasia hybrids with 'Shield' in the name. Some of these were developed or are being developed by LariAnn Garner. However, I don't think one called 'Grecian Shield' is among these.

Yes, I was thinking 'Green Shield'. There is a plant commonly referred to as Grecian Urn, but it is an acanthus in the acanthaceae family. It is a very elegant looking plant. Susan
