new to Calla Lillies

We planted 2 white calla lillies on our back block wall on the north side of our back yard. Full sun for now since all the plants back there are still new and small. I don't know much about the calla lily so I thought someone here could help with a few questions.

We planted them about a month or so ago. A week after we planted them, we had a real hot heatwave. I don't know if it's the timing or what, but no flowers have come back since. I can't tell if the flowers are done with bloom, or if there is anything wrong that I am not doing for them.

The leaves, etc are green and I see some small growth, however not a lot. Do they grow real slow? Are they done with their bloom?

Also, what is the best way to remove the old fried flower stalks or any dead folage? Thank you! -- Terra
