i would appreciate some help on this one. I have had very low rate of germinating healthy looking arisaema tubers from chenyi nursery - as low as 10 to 12%. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I hope someone can have some suggestions. thanks. crizanto

Hi Crizanto, I wish I could be of help, but likely not. I order from Chen Yi all the time and her Arisaema are pretty reliable in my hands. There are some that are not, but these are typically the more tropical ones. The standard bearers, like candidissimum, fargessii, franchetianum, erubescens, consanguineum, concinnum, etc. are pretty good at coming up with perhaps 80%+ success rate. When I get them in I store them in peat for the winter in my garage at 40F or so and then plant out in the spring when they start to grow on their own. I'm not sure how you are handling yours, but perhaps if you give some more info it might be apparent where it is going wrong for you. Of course, if you are ordering hard to find rare species then you should expect more trouble in your zone 5 situation. Hope someone else can be of more help :o) Dan

Hi Steve, I've gotten them both around Nov. and in early March.....the only problem with March is she will be sold out of a lot...the good part is you do not have to fiddle with them for the winter yourself. You should also be aware that she can be difficult to contact because of her travels....I asked for an updated list but did not hear back....I'll try again, but as I said sometimes you get nothing.....do not let this discourage you. Good luck with your order :o) Dan
