Terry, I had a plant in the ground. Two plants in pots. Last year the white part of the leaf looked like something had eaten it all off of all of my plants. I later saw a peacock pecking the white part of the leaf. I just took that to be my problem. Maybe it wasn't since you don't have peacocks. Or have you got some lately Ha. Larry

I have a large stand of these, maybe 10-12 plants all told the largest after coming out of winter dormancy now about 3 ft tall. I had them all in containers at the beginning of the season, in full sun, and as they emerged and started growing, I noticed that the white parts of the leaves burned. When I planted them out, I chose a location in a very shaded are that only gets filtered light, but gets a ton of sprinkler water. They have grown very fast and the leaves are getting very large, but even in this light, which is probably at best 50% sun and all of it filtered no direct, any LARGE white areas tend to burn.

I am wondering if perhaps this plant needs more full shade. The stems are beautiful, extremely variegated with white stripes, and the leaves that are only edged with white have a lovely shape, but the highly variegated ones that should make it a star sadly never look right.

Larry, when I visted you recently, your peacocks only had peahens on their mind. LOL! Bihai, I may move it to more shade. I I recently trimmed my water oaks so I get more light under the big trees and it seems to be good for the alocasia. I'll swap places with the variegated xan and the sagittafolia.

Bihai, thanks for the comments and picture. I found a leaf shaded by another leaf today. It looks fine. I think shade may be the key. I'm going to move the pot under the water oaks and see what happens. - Terry
