Hi Roxanne, really, there is no similarity at all so I'm not sure where the confusion is to be honest. The Typhonium (Sauromatum) has a large petiole that is green with dark oval spots that produces in general 5-7 leaflets at the top. Amorph gigas is a rare plant so I hope you did not pay for A. gigas and get ripped of for a really common and cheap Sauromatum (Typhonium). All Amorphs divide at the top into 3 "branches" (a continuation of the petiole) that forms an umbrella of leaves. T. venosum offsets like crazy and I do not believe that A. gigas produces offsets, but I'm not positive on that one. If you post a pic of your plant it will be very easy to know if it is T. venosum. Many small Amorphs look about the same so harder to tell an exact species. Am. gigas is a huge plant eventually and rarely ever blooms in captivity, although it does happen......much easier to bloom Am titanum. If you have lots of offsets attached to the main tuber that look like Hershey's kisses in shape then you have Sauromatum (Typhonium) venosum. Hope that helps a little :o) Dan
