It has been my experience that this species can be rather variable in this regard. Sometimes they will nicely grow all the way till fall and other times go dormant in mid summer. Out of the 20 or so that I have some are just starting to go dormant and others are green as can be. Sounds like yours had a nice long growth period so I'd bet it is in perfect shape!! You should not lift the rhizome until it has fully cured. Give it a couple of months since it is in no hurry anyway. These guys also are reported to like more moisture than your average Himalayan species. Good growing on your other speccies :o) Dan

I just couldn't believe this plant was on its way out. The rhizome just looks too robust and healthy.
