Black Magic stem variancy

Has anyone else noticed color variancy in the stem color on Colocasia esculenta 'Black Magic'. My original plant has darker, charcoalish colored stems, while another I picked up this weekend has very red stems and another pot of smaller ones varied from reddish to yellowish. Now having said this the two pots I picked up this weekend at a local flea market-thing were not labeled as anything, but both have matte black ears that are fuzzy like mine. Also they look nothing like any of my other varieties. I haven't found other colored stem varieties with black ears.

I think the amount of light effects their color. The ones I grew in full sun were black all over. The ones on the porch are green leafed and pinkish-yellowish stemed. I should move them to more sun.

I was thinking the same thing, but just wanted to see if anyone had seen this.
Thanks

Hi
I think light is the main cause of the variance, There are several alocasias as well as hybrids using thet name.
I also find that they vary considerably between running water standing water and moist .Particularly the size of the leaves. The biggest ,darkest are in running water with full sun. gary
