Red stem Colocasia(pink china, royal hilo) not growing well

C.royal hilo, and C.hardy pink china have hardly grown at all for me this summer, and haven't put out any new side shoots or runners. They are in the same soil as my other Colocasias(that are doing great), but the red stem ones just seem to barely get by. Should I try groing them aquatically, or change the soil to something with better drainage? It's really hot here and all my other EE's are growing like crazy.

Any ideas, suggestions?

I have noticed mine need heaps of water, maybe a bog type environment may help. I would be intereted in others comments also

I just repotted them into bigger pots, with more boggy type soil, and plugged the drain holes. Hopefully that should do the trick, before it starts cooling down a bit.

A little off subject but interested in knowing, if you can help ... I have Pink China, Rhubarb and am interested in getting a Royal Hilo. Someone mentioned to me that they thought the Hilo is really one of these other kinds I already have. Does anyone know for sure if Royal Hilo is truly a NEW Colocasia?

angsaidso- I think it is a new one, but I'm no expert. Brian of 'Brians Botanicles' seems to think it is a hybrid of a red stemmed one and Colocasia fontessia(spelling).

So far no drastic change in the red stem colocasias. I'm hoping that they will come out of their slump when cooler tempatures come.
