Hi

I repotted about 500 titanum seedlings and every last one lost its petiole and I thought I had killed them all. A month or so later they produced new petioles, as did yours, but this second petiole was the same size or slightly smaller than the original one. Other seedlings from the same batch that I did not repot didn't lose their petioles at that same time and later, when they lost them and produced the second petiole, they were much bigger.

I can't say if the plants have experienced dormancy as it is induced, before the plant was ready to lose the petiole itself.
One thing to note though is that titanum doesn't appear to be on any kind of regular cycle, because it went "dormant" now doesn't mean it won't again in the fall, or any other time. They just do it when they feel it's the right time and they have enough energy in their tuber and this will depend on the growing conditions more then because a certain length of time has passed.

Yes, that makes sense, Troy, and I do appreciate you answering my question. I can't imagine how scary that must have been for you thinking you had killed 500 Titanum seedlings. I killed the other seedlings I got from you. I tried keeping them in my "too cool" greenhouse last winter, and they died. The greenhouse got down to 45* some nights and the seedlings were not happy. This plant was the last one alive and I was forced to bring it inside my house to keep it from dying. I sure was sad when I thought I had killed it when I repotted it. I'm really glad it's put on a new leaf.
