Looks like a typical Anthurium crystallinum .. though if the petiole has a flat surface on it , may be some hybrid parentage , like magnificum in there . Well grown Marlene , give it frequent foliar feeds [when you do your orchids] and it will thrive . It looks best in a large hanging basket , as the leaves always hang down so far , remember they are epiphytes .
Thanks for your reply aroideana. The ticket on the plant was ALOCASIA Black Velvet. However...I am not sure that is the correct name so I am asking the experts. 50% say anthurium and 50% say alocasia.
Anthurium crystallinum in my opinion too ... Not A. Black Velvet. I have those here ... doesn't look like that. But I also have Anthuriums too and it definitely looks like those! :-) Peace ~ Ang
Hi Marleneann, most definately an Anthurium, it could be a crystallinum but like aroideana said if it has a flat side on petiole it is a cross with some other a true crystallinum has a round petiole,A clarinervum are smaller and perfectly heart shaped and the leaves are firm, doesn't matter if they are crosses they are all beautiful aren't they.
