Actually, that's just a leaflet. The leaf is the whole stem with all the leaflets on it. Are you actually getting a plant? I've read it will indeed grow from a leaflet but, as you say, very, very, slowly. It'll also grow from the whole leaf, and quicker, but that seems like a cutting instead of 'growing from a leaf'. I think it's a fascinating plant as much for the fact that it looks like a cycad (zamiafolia) and is an aroid, and grows from a leaf like an African Violet or rhizomatous begonia, as that I'm something of an aroid nut so am required to like it!

I think theres a plant going on there as its no longer loose in the pot, i can give it a bit of a tug and it doesnt move.

According to this website the leaflet should dry out completely leaving a small caudex behind, which cannot be raised as its produces roots from the top surface.

I've had a ZZ plant for a number of years and every time a leaflet gets bumped off, I stick the base in the ground. They almost always grow a new plant for me, in the fashion you describe. Mine is slightly different than most of the ones I see on the web - it has rounded leaflets instead of pointed. Less even-looking, but I like it.

Well, the leaflet is looking browner,and I checked thr bottom of the pot and theres a small white tuber there.
Not sure if I should pot it up yet or wait until spring.
