Those are the bulbils that give the species its name. When the petiole collapses just detach these and plant them next spring to get more plants. This species does not produce underground offsets like others that you may be aware of (konjac being the most common), but rather produces these offsets in the leaf axes. Other species do this as well and some have the offset inside the petiole at the leaf junction. Best of luck with these :o) Dan
