I don't know for sure and just asked that very question myself. If I store it, I'm going to use the method someone else suggested, which is put the dry bulb in clean sterile pantyhose (knee highs, or cut them off so they're about 12-18" long), and hang them in a cool closet. Or, if you have a garage, you could hang them in there. That way, they get plenty of air circulation and little opportunity for root rot.
