My understanding of it is that it was either hybridized or popularized by the brazilian landscape architect "Burle Marx" It's often offered for sale in nurseries here.
I've grown it in the past but in my opinion not nearly as spectacular as some of the other family members.
Very tropical like all philos ,self header though it will vine does tend to remain smaller than average .
Would think it would do well in a terrarium but don't think it would be neceassary. I grew it in pots but outdoors and in the shadehouse. but I'm in s. florida . gary
