Overwintering Dracunculus vulgaris

blackwyld

Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone could give me advise on what to do with my Dracunculus.

I planted two bulbs earlier in the spring in large pots and they showed no sign of doing anything all summer.

I just emptied out both pots today as part of my autumn cleanup and found that one of the bulbs had turned to mush but the other one is sprouting.

Now; I don't know what to do with this bulb. I live in Zone 2, northern Canada where winter temps drop down to -30 degrees C.

How can I go about overwintering this bulb?

How should I store it?

Is the fact that it is sprouting going to cause any problems? I am wondering if I should just pot it up again and treat it like a houseplant.

I'll post a link to a picture of the bulb below.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much :)
