Blooming Elephant Ear

I have a bulb that was just ID'd as Elephant Ear and it put out foliage last year. I overwintered it in the pot in my basement and this (very rainy!) year it bloomed! Is this normal? Should I expect it to bloom every year now, or was this unusual?

Hi jessew, did you get a pic..the reason I ask this is because year before last I started and EE bed and they bloomed the first year.. it was amazing because I didn't realize that they bloomed..I took pics because I figured ppl wouldn't believe me, I just dont know how to upload them..the perfume of the flower is what made me realize that they had bloomed..the scent was great, very sweet.
