Will it live?

Hello all! Long time lurker here who has caught the aroid bug from you all. My question concerns the Amorphophallus Konjac. I bought one of these last summer and followed most of your suggestions on it's care. It did well most of the summer and sent out two stalks. It has since died back, early I thought since I live in zone 9 Florida. I didn't dig the tuber out but didn't water it either. I went to check on it last weekend and found something had been digging in it's pot. I dug the tuber up at that point and to my horror found 2/3s of the tuber was a slimey mess. I rinsed off as much of the slime as I could and the remainder of the tuber now sits on the edge of my desk. It seemes to have stablized [nothing else is rotting off it] and has several eyes[?] on it. Will it regrow next year from what remains of the tuber? Any help will be appreciated since [to me] it was an expensive plant that I truly enjoyed. Thanks for any help! nova
