overwintering elephant ear

I have a two year old elephant ear (Malanga)growing in a pot. Last winter I placed the pot in my dark basement and didn't water, brought it out in May and it did very well this past summmer. Is it possible to keep it growing as a house plant or would I be better to let it go dormant? Where can I get general info on these, such as when should it be repotted, when should it be divided? I simply love the plant, the leaves were very large and I had up to nine of them> Thanks
