Arisaema seed germination notes

Planted 10 seeds of A. tortuosum and 20 seeds of A flavum (eBay purchase) on October 30.

First seed leaves of tortuosum were above the grit on November 13 (2 weeks) and all 10 are now up, 100%.

Carefull digging around one of the flavum seeds shows root sprouting, but I expect another 2-3 weeks to visible seed leaf.

Any ideas how long till the first true leaves on the tortuosum will develop?

George

RE: Arisaema seed germination notes

Hi George, Like all Arisaema, not until the second year of growth....They will need a cold spell after the first growth cycle to stimulate a second one nect spring so you need to be aware of that.....I have thousands of seed, but I do not worry about germinating them until next spring...just easier than fiddling with them over the winter. These are really easy species to grow so you should have no problems at all :o) Dan
