I don't know why nobody had anything to say to this. What did you decide?

I grew some outside a while back and dug them up in winter. I brushed off as much dirt as I could, but kept the entire dirty mass in a plastic bag on a closet shelf all winter with no problems. That may not be the ideal storage method but it worked for me. When I bought them, they were stored dry and rootless in a little ventilated baggie, so I would guess that either way is likely to be fine.
