Hi!

I tried to email you privately thru GW but perhaps the message didn't come thru.

It seems like you really know your stuff. So I'm

asking you this alocasia question.

I want the biggest leaf and tallest plant I can grow

but it also needs to be easily overwintered as a

houseplant or dormant in the basement and able to multiply to replace itself

if it gets sick and dies and to make a more impressive display.

I should also tell you I have no greenhouse, and our summers are too short for slow growers.

I was at the aroid research link but storage issues & quickest growth,

are not covered so can you help me?

I currently have 'Odora' which was a Walmart purchase.

It is 3 yrs old, has a 36 inch leaf (at best) and is

5 ft tall. It would have been taller but I like the leaves to emerge from the

bottom of the plant not 18 inches above the ground so I cut it back and rerooted it.

It is easy to store in my 60 degree damp basement for 8 months or makes a nice a houseplant.

It's a great plant. I like its shiny leaves and seems to have no pest issues.

Is this is good as it can get for me here in Zone 5a??

Would any of these do better here?

calidora (your baby I see!) from

A.gigantea,

A.maccrorhiza. I did try a GW trade of this already

but it barely grew,...but maybe it was just an inferior specimen.

Or if there is something else I should try just LMK. It

looks like the plants that you sell thru aroid

research may be different. If you have something there that would be

just the ticket LMK.

Thx for sharing your expertise in this area. :)
