Alocasia Amazonica Repotting Advice
My mother moved to Mexico and left me with her plants. One of them is a Alocasia amazonica. I didn't know much about the plant, and having read things here I realize I have not been giving it enough water.
The plants (it seems to be three separate plants) has outgrown its pot. It has developed long (8"-10"), vine-like bases that have the stems with leaves at the ends of them. When I watered them last, one of the plants was sitting on top of the soil, not in it.
When putting the plant in a new pot, should I bury these "vines" under the soil with the base of the stem coming out of the soil? Leave them exposed? Would the plants be happier if I were to break them into their own pots?
Also, being winter, should I even be thinking about new pots? The one not in the soil seems like it needs to be addressed.
Any help would be appreciated.
